The Vikings come into the season very young with few returning players. James Bryant (White Plains/White Plains) and James Christenson (Bethlehem/ White Plains) are the top two returning scoring middies who will be heavily relied upon to carry the scoring load. Mason Agosto (Cary-Grove/Cary, IL) and Ryan Polak (Ridgewood/Loveland, OH) are two very talented freshman that should make an immediate impact in the Vikings scoring attack. The defense is anchored by captains Zac Lafarr (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) and Tom Stoddard (Valley Central/Montgomery). Lafarr will lead a young but talented defense with the possibility of two freshmen starting beside him. Tompkins Cortland Community College transfer J.P. Grove (Schuylerville/Wilton) hopes to lock up the starting goalie spot after a very impressive fall.
Head Coach Joe Hayes is optimistic, commenting, “We have some very talented freshmen, transfers and returners that we are counting on to help this team toward a third consecutive conference title and sixth straight regional appearance. This team has a very challenging season ahead of it, playing six of the top 10 teams in the nation. We believe that playing the best teams will prepare our players in making a run for the conference title and the possibility of a national championship at the end of the season.”
The Hudson Valley Community College Lacrosse team opens the season ranked eighth in the NJCAA Men’s Lacrosse Top Ten preseason poll.
